This is in paper that looks at the role of fat metabolism to control the stress response. The studies it highlights "support a link between stress biology and energy metabolism, a connection that has clear relevance for numerous disease states and their comorbidities". Even more significant in relation to the role of fat within the ketogenic diet is that they highlight that fat cells in the body (adipocytes) link energy mobilisation and control of stress responses. They discovered that key receptors on adipose tissue, when stimulated inhibit "psychogenic as well as metabolic stress responses".
